Nose gear bolt vs. firewall

I've mounted the engine (some time ago) but haven't tried putting in the filler plug in the hole in the firewall that you need to drill to have access to put the bolt in the hole in the nose gear mount. I notice when I fitted the cap that the bolt head hits a few of the prongs. Is this common? I can't say I like the idea much. Maybe I should fabricate (somehow) a tiny recess instead?

Make your own plate

Bob,

I too had an issue so I made a plate to cover the hole and mounted it with a two screws. It is mounted from the inside of the firewall and sealed with RTV. I used some stainless sheet I had but you can use steel sheet and paint it.

If you have it can you send a picture?

BTW, was just down in your neck of the woods for the last 10 days on vacation with the Mrs. (we just got home, total driving was 4,312.4 miles) -- Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Phoenix, Tucson. Had never been there before. It knocked our socks off!
