non noise cancelling headset

Hello. Looking to by another headset. I tried the lower line ANR by Lightspeed, for $280 and it sounded terrible. (may have been a bad unit, but oh well) I slipped on my nearly 20 yr old Pilot brand passive type and it sounds wonderful in my 9A. Can anyone recommend a comfortable, affordable passive headset? I may just go with another Pilot, with gel pads.
My old Pilot will be the passengers set. Thx, DM

Personal comfert and preference. I found the Zulu's the best, tested side by side with the Bose.

Now the one thing to remember is, there is no perfect answer here.

Chevy v Ford

Passive style and under $200. there are plenty more people here in this category and this is what I'm looking for.

Fine, but for a few bucks more..........

Otherwise the DC H10.34 or whatever they are, I have two sets for random uses, and they are very good value.

Check out the Victor1-11P and Victor 1-12P with cell adapter at Tina's Pilot Shop: www.tinaspilotshop.com

About six years ago I purchased the ANR set, Victor1- ANR with cell & audio adapter. I was VERY happy with the headset and the experience with Tina. A couple of years ago I purchased replacement gel ear seals. The only issues I had over the six years I used them was replacing the ear seals, and a small piece of plastic broke on the head band, which I fixed with a tie wrap.

Last year I replaced them with a QT Halo, which I really like.

Hope this helps.

Want a David Clark 13.4?

I haven't taken time to prepare an ad, but I'm planning on selling my David Clark 13.4 Mono headset. It's used, but certainly not abused. In preparation for the sale, I installed brand new gel ear pads and a new mic muff. Spruce's current price is $275 plus shipping. My price will be $175 plus $10 shipping to the lower 48. I can take a credit card or PayPal.

Here's the Spruce write-up: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/h10_134.php

drmax gets the first crack at it. After he says yes or no, it'll be first-come, first-served.

No thank you. I've had a couple pair of D/C's and clamp my big head like a vice.

These headsets are made by Lightspeed and are the non-ANR version of the discontinued QFR X-Country. I have the Aircraft Spruce version and it works fine as a passenger headset in the RV-6 and my personal headset in the open-cabin Legal Eagle. I consider them to be a good value for an inexpensive headset.

These look pretty comfy. How long have your worn them it one setting? Good sounding reception? Thx

Just had a look, they also have an ARN set for only $100 more. See if you can demo a set and give us feed back please.

I dont like to fly in RVs without some sort of ARN. I might be ok just for a short flight, but no go if im looking at a big trip.

YMMV

victor 1 anr

I had a terrible experience with the ANR victor 1 by lightspeed. Tina's sent it to me and with it adjusted properly, it would not work. With the ANR off, my speech, broadcasted back through my ears, sounded like I was talking with a muffled voiced, and like in a cave. With the ANR on, I could not hear back through my headset. I put on my old pilot set and sounded terrific, hence why I want to save the $100 or so. My 9A seems pretty quiet.
I won't be demo 'ing anything. Most likely gonna grab the Pilot set I asked about a few post ago, or perhaps that $100 set that was suggested (passive model) and put this to bed. DM

Low cost passive headsets

I haven't used these but this looks like what you are looking for:
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/pilotUSAheadsets7.php

I saw these advertised recently and look to be pretty nice:
http://www.flyfaro.com/

I use these:
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/peltorprogt.php

You just have to be careful, if you leave them in your hot aircraft, in the sunlight, the ear seals can get deformed. When they do they wont stay in when they're not on you head.

Went to Faro website, and interestingly enough, the reviews are unable to open. hmm. also don't know where they are manufactured...maybe in india:eek: I'll pass on those. The link for the Pilot brand is the model below what I'm looking at. The link you said "are the ones you wear" indicate you're a heli pilot? Cool man! Thx for your input. DM

Woops wrong link

I pasted the wrong Peltor link and corrected it. Not the helicopter version. The fixed wing version.
