Need HS909 Shim?

Jeff R

Well Known Member
I am back working on the HS. In clecoing the right half of the HS, we are to include a shim, the HS-909, between the forward spar, HS-902, and the inner rib, HS-904. Well, the holes all line up much better if I omit the shim. With the shim in place, the holes don't quite line up. The rear spar assembly fits perfectly, so am thinking of doing away with the shim.

Any of you have any issues here?

Sorry for all of these questions!

Jeff

Think Trig

If you consider that the angle of the inner rib with respect to the others, the effective length of the rib is reduced by the sine of the angle. So the shim is needed to compensate. Actually, I don't think it's thick enough.
