Need clarification on the Duckworks Lense cutout template

I'm a little confused about the current cutout template for the RV10/14 leading edge lights from Vans/Duckworks. I can only find older posts and videos that show a different package then what i recieved. In the few videos that I have found, it looks like the template is placed on the wing and the hole is marked. In my instructions it states to position the template on the topside of the wing and then punch for the top rivet holes and screws. Outline the top side of the cutout.

Next position the bottom side and punch for rivets and screws. Outline bottom side of cutout.
I wasn't expeting to have to reposition the template, but in fact that is what I had to do to get it to line up on the bottom. The instructions lead me to believe this is the case, but before I go drilling and cutting, I would like confirmation.

I think this is a bigger cutout than originally and the paper template isn't big enough to cover. Is my thinking correct?

Thanks,
Dan

The vans 10/14 landing light has been available for almost a decade now. It’s significantly larger than the duckworks.
I imagine they only really sell the DW to non 10/14 builders.
So I’d just follow the instructions you have. I assume it’s OP52 you are using? One template has to be used 4 times.

Ok. So you are confirming that a repositioning of the template top to bottom is required.

Yes. That’s the one I’m referring to. Thanks Richard.
I will be installing the Flyleds 7 Star kit
