Nav-Comm for Airworthiness Certificate

Hi,

I hope to have my RV7A finished in a couple of months.

Do I have to install the Nav-Comm & Transponder prior to the DAR airworthiness inspection?

In order to fly sooner, I would like to purchase a free standing comm unit and install the antenna and NAV-COMM & transponder during the test flight as I suppose I will not be flying all day,. That way I can fly earlier.

Thanks for your help.

Nope...

....and you don't even ever have to install either. Don't even have to have an electrical system if you never go into towered airports. My Air Tractor is a certified airplane and has no radios or xpdr.

Regards,

You don't need either, unless you happen to be underneath the mode C veil of a Class B airport AND you have an electrical system. Then you will need the transponder with mode C reporting, with the required 24 month check.
