MP on the way down......?

Steve Sampson

What sort of MP do folk try to maintain on the way down to ensure the engine is working and developing some heat. I invariably find I am still not starting far enough out to keep the engine as warm as I would like.

It seems harder with a c/s prop, but I expect its just the -4 slides down hill all too easily.

Thanks,

Typically I reduce RPM by 200 and maintain MP all the way to the airport. Typically MP = 21 or 22 inches at WOT at the altitude I normally fly. IF lower, I will reduce MP to 22 and RPM to 2100 on my O-320 with Hartzell.
