I have been looking for a do-it-your-self type project for a metal bending brake to help me in my metal projects. I searched on Google and Yahoo and I ended up finding exactly what I was looking for and it came right from the VansAirforce web site! How about that. I wanted a 5 foot brake. I went to my local scrap yard. That would mean that I needed a 15 foot piece of angle iron. I looked everywhere and I could not find any thing near that length. I ended up finding enough for a 3 foot brake so I took it.
I went to my garage with my scrap metal and gazed at the plans and made a few cuts of metal and started using my new welder that I have never used before ( and never welded before, just look at my welds),Here is the address www.vansairforce.org/tools/
I have a total of about $26 bucks in materials. Not bad, Harbor Freight has one similar for $200. I really enjoy the "build it yourself" way.
