Manual trim location

Anyone ever put the manual trim cable lower, or more out of the way? Putting it facing forward would be an option, if I could keep it close enough to reach with the belts on. That bracket digs into my leg.... Not really interested in electric trim at this point.

Any ideas?

What I did, was file the edges smooth and glue some rubber tube over the edge.( I used a sharp knife to cut down the middle ) Not a problem any more.

And be sure to remove that push button.

I put mine on the left. I did round the bracket before final install incase my knee got near.
