Manual Flaps for the RV-9A

Anyone do this, and if so, can you share your work ideas? Thanks in advance. Glenn in Tucson, RV-9A Fuselage #90623

I think I recall the reason Van's didn't make manual flaps available on the -9/9A is the length of the flaps and the fact that they are slotted type (Back and down in deployement) means the "average person" won't have the strength to deploy them.

To give you an idea how long they are here is a picture of me standing next to one.

Thanks Bill, I appreciate your time. I decided not to do it anyway, I don't think my fat body would clear the flap handle anyway! (Although Tom @ Van's said it could be done fairly easy with RV-6 parts)

Why would you want to? I had a 1972 AA-5. Yhe flap motor was changed 0nce in thirty years!
