Main Wheel Axel Nut

Searched around and couldn't find anything...
Has anyone come up with a good mod for getting the cotter pin in and out of the axel nut on the mains? You have to bend it to get it in and then jump the gap across the axel to find the hole on the other side. I was thinking some sort of sleeve in there, but I haven't tried it yet.
Anyone?

6A that I maintain was almost impossible to get cotter pin in until I drilled the holes in the nut just a little larger. Cotter pin does need a slight curve to be able to be inserted. Pretty easy to do now.

The trick is to put a single, sharp bend in the cotter pin, about 3/4" from the head, so you can get the straight section of the cotter pin perpendicular to the axle before you hit the far side.
