Loss of Generator Power

backcountry

Well Known Member
I removed the Rotax 912 USL engine from my RV-12 and installed a new 912 USL engine.
A few days ago I test flew the airplane for 1/2 hour and everything performed normal.
Today I started the engine and during warm-up I lost Generator power. I shut the engine down and restarted the engine and everything worked normal again and then took it for a flight and shortly after takeoff the generator power was lost again I returned and landed and shut down the engine and restarted the engine and the generator power was restored.
The voltage regulator is the upgraded B&C unit that’s operated successfully for several hours on the old engine. Electrically all the wiring is the same, except the two wires from the old engine to the regulator was removed with the old engine. The two wires from the new engine is now connected to the same existing aircraft’s regulator.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
