Looking for info on nav/com radios

Hello All, I've been doing some panel planing and I decided to go with the icom a210 for my com. I'm looking for a nav/com comparable to the icom equipment. I want to buy new and I'm on a tight budget so I thought I'd yall's opinions on what to shop for. Also I'm no avionics expert, Do I have to use the same brand loc/GS head as the nav radio? I'm looking to buy the instrument itself used.

Sl30

I had sl30 in my 2 aircraft. Very good radio
You can monitor 2 com freq and you can have a nav freq on you cdi/gs i dicator ans the second freq can be monitor and the radial on the 2nd freq will be indicate in number on the sl-30

I don't think that the cdi/gs hqve to be from the same company

Well that is what I thought, till after 25 hrs. of flight, the display of my SL30 started playing up. I took it to an authorised Garmin repair station. "Only" four and a half weeks later I got it back: No warrenty and $ 950,- to be payed !! Thank you very much "Garmin"!............
