Location of Your EHT Sensors?

Triumph1974

Well Known Member
Hello Everyone,

I am getting ready to install my EHT sensors, and wanted to find out where others have installed their sensors - especially those with an 0-360, Skyview sensors, and a standard crossover Vetterman's exhaust.

Seems like due to the bend at the #1 cylinder you need to be ~2 1/8" down to get past bend, and 2 1/8 will get you just above the "pin hooks" weld on the #3 cylinder.

If anyone that has this set up and can comment or post photo's of your EHT locations that would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

EGT sensors

Hi Paul, my understanding is that it is not critical how far "downstream" you mount the sensors but what is critical is the distance from each cylinder to the sensor must be equal. There is a nice article by Mike Bush on the subject of EGT. Try to get hold of it,

EGT probe location

As Arie says, the distance is not as critical as consistency on all cylinders.
Farther from the cylinder head = slower response time and longer probe life.
Closer to the head = faster response and shorter probe life.
2.125" would be a good choice IMHO.

Thanks guys!

Thanks for the reply guys...that is helpful.

Tom - with a 5" distance do you feel like there are issues with the response time? - or is pretty much a non issue.

I will also try and find that article you mentioned Arie.

Paul
