lightening holes in rear spar of RV-7 VS

hi,

the spar doubler in my rv7-emp-kit has already the lightening holes predrilled.

if i want to put an light at the buttom rudder fairing later on... do i have to drill lightening hole(s) into the spar now? if yes, what hole size in what location would be sufficient?

Hi Kay,

If you are talking about adding a hole for wiring, you should wait until the VS is on the fuse, and if you are careful you might not need any hole in the spar (depending on tail/nose dragger).

light in rudder

The wiring for the position light on the rudder would normally just run through the fiberglass fairing, not the rudder itself.
