Leaving a 12 Unpainted

Has anyone given thought to leaving a 12 unpainted? I remember in the 60's Shinn built the 2150 and did not paint it. This gave them appx 38-45 lb. weight decrease. If left unpainted would the aluminum have to be treated someway? Might be something to think about on our 12's. John

The topic of polishing an RV vs painting has been covered many times on this forum. If you use the "Search" function of the forum you will find a lot of info on this subject. I used "polish" as the search term and here are some threads that will get you started:

I assume by "leaving a 12 unpainted" you are referring to a polished finish. However, there are RV's that fly very well in spite of having never received either polish or paint! Just depends on whether or not you like the "rat-rod" look.
