Landing gear mount rivet interference.

I’m in the process of putting the landing gear mount in on my 7A. The bottom rivet on the side skin doubler plate is interfering with the mount so it won’t fit tight against the side skin. Anyone had this problem? I think the only remedy is to grind a little off the mount where it’s touching the rivet. I don’t see any other options. IMG_2454.jpegIMG_2453.jpegIMG_2455.jpeg

I've got the taildragger instead of the nose dragger, so I don't even have this component. But I see what you're talking about. Is everything else sitting flat--has the hole in the bottom skin been cut out as shown so the weldment isn't sitting up proud of the bottom skin? If all that is positioned as it should be, it would seem the only option is to notch the weldment to get some clearance on that one rivet hole. Make sure it's not going to infringe on the edge distance for that first bolt hole, though. Hopefully, an "A" builder will chime in that's already had to deal with this issue. If not, I'd call Van's to make sure.

Thanks for the replies! Hopefully I can get the mounts fitted during my next work session. Last step before the wings go on for the first time!

Just FYI, that bottom rivet is suppose to be double flush. Hence the interference. Building a 9A, but should be the same.

That is true. I wanted the shop head on the skin side, so didn't do the double flush route. I looked at it 100 times, and aside from this one rivet that needed clearance, all of the others cleared the gear tower fine.
