Keyed Rivnuts?

Just bought some rivnuts and an installation kit from A/C Spruce.

It came with a funky barbed punch like tool for forming a key way for the little key bump on the back of the rivnut flange. Does the tool get used to "dent" the material and form the key way? If not how do you use it?

Jim, on the ones I have seen, you drill a hole the diameter of the rivet body, then use the tool to make the "notch", then install the rivnut to match it. The kind I have has two "levers" with a plunger between them in the center of the tool. To use, you pull the plunger out, thread the rivnut onto the stud at the end of the tool, put the rivnut in the hole you've made, squeeze the tool's handles together to expand the rivnut, then push the plunger, which rotates the stud and unscrews from the rivnut, releasing the tool.

I only plan to use a few rivnuts and have the poor man's "two wrench" pullers.

Just wondered how to use the keyway notcher?
