Insurance Tips: Review your policy

When shopping for your renewal, remember that it is important to look at all your coverage needs and not just the premium. Every insurance company is different and coverages they offer can change from year to year. If there is a certain coverage you are interested in, please be sure to discuss this with your broker to make sure your current company is still offering this. When it comes to the policy you need be sure that the named insured on your insurance policy matches how you have it registered with the FAA on their database. We have come across several policies that are written with an individual listed as the named insured on the policy, when the aircraft is actually registered under an LLC name. Your aircraft policy needs to match the registration name. If it doesn’t it could delay a claim payment being issued to you. Please note that when your aircraft is insured under an LLC any claim payments and refunds from the carrier will be made out in that name. Please be sure you have a bank account set up under the LLC name. If there is a reason the information doesn’t match, let your broker know so they can get this corrected with your insurance company. Finally, when you receive your policy, take a few minutes to look it over. If any corrections are needed, contact your broker right away. This is a good time to bring up any questions or concerns you may have about the policy.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
