Installing Landing light lens brackets

I am currently working on my landing lights in the leading edge of the wings. I bought the Lens kit for the RV 10/14. I'm having a difficult time getting the the brackets to adhere to the lens using the double sided tape that Vans recommends in the instructions. Has anyone used a different method that they found worked better? I know something like Gorilla brand would hold well but I'm afraid it would be to thick.

Thanks,
Dan

In past models, we just countersunk the plexi and rivetted the sandwich together. Maybe too many people were cracking the plexi and went to tape. But that approach does work.

I decided to give the tape another attempt. I covered more area than what it shows in the plans. I also set up a space heater on the table blowing on the parts and tape. Everything was comfortably warm to the touch before assembly. It worked much better this time. The rivets were my backup plan. Thanks!
