Info needed

I picked up a very clean engine without doing all the homework I should have and I'm sort of unsure what I have.

Data plate says:
Model IO-540-0485
Engine# L-4979-48
TC1-E4
Octane min 91/96
250HP@ 2,575

Anybody have a clue?

Lycoming website was zero help.

Could it be J4A5? Is that data plate legible?

It is...and that's all the info on it in my prior post.

Call Lycoming with the info, they should be able to help you out. Hopefully, just a typo on the data plate. I don?t recall ever seeing any 540?s with that style model number that were used for off plane use. If you send me a picture of the data plate maybe I can see if it is real from the appearance. The TC should stand for Type Certificate , but I couldn't check the number as the FAA site is down.
