Hub Caps

Has anyone opted for hub caps in lieu of wheel pants on their RV-12?

• Drill hole to access valve stem?
• Plug hole?

I was looking initially at using an electrical conduit plug to fill the potential hole in the hub cap; however, those plugs appear to be far too tenacious. I destroyed three vetting the process on scrap metal.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

Removing/replacing three screws to access the valve stem is probably faster than all the fiddling you would have to do with an extender to remove the cap, extended air filler, then extended pressure gauge.

A snap cover would be better for the hole if you make one.

Yep-- use the Matco caps!

I've seen drag data indicating the covers like this will give you 30%-40% of the drag reduction od pants. Now if you go the full route with gear fairings and intersection fairings at both ends, that's another story, but that package is a LOT more expensive than these caps.
