HS702 - HS710/714 Rivet Orientation

Hi all
just spent ages trying to understand the attachment of the HS-
710 and 714 to the HS 702. The plans call out for the
center four rivets to be attached with the flush heads aft, it doesn't state how the universal head rivets should be orientated, does this mean that the uni heads should be fwds,

Orientation is not critical on universal head rivets. Typically you want the shop head on the side of the thicker material for minimum distortion but again, it's not critical.

I asked the same question, at the same phase of building. Someone told me that a good rule of thumb is to follow what the diagram says and it will almost always work fine. The diagram will say something like:
AN470AD4-6 all HS-710 or HS-714 to HS-702 rivets. If you pass the rivet from the 710 to the 702 the factory head will be on the 710 (the thicker piece) and the shop head will be on the 702. This rule of thumb works most of the time, but always use your judgement.
