How did you rivet these nutplates in?

The arrow on the right points to a nutplate you cant see on the diagram, I can get one rivet, but not the one closest to the support going up at an angle.

I ended up using a countersunk rivnut.

If you can only get one squeezed rivet in, use a pop rivet for the other one.

Van's sells nutplate pop rivets. If the stiffener is too thick for the ones Van's sells, then you can get longer lengths from Bonaero.

Knipex

One of the tools I have used to squeeze non-structural rivets (like nut-plates, etc) when the standard tools don't work is to use the small or medium sized Knipex. I can't quite get the full squeeze on the rivet with these, but certainly more than enough of a squeeze to hold a nut-plate in place.

Vise Grips and scrap aluminum did the trick

So I used some Vise Grips and scrap aluminum I had around the shop and it worked great. Thanks for all the tips!

For the archives and to benefit someone's search on the topic, Van's QB factory has single leg nut-plates installed.
