Heated Pitot location on RV-7

bamarv7

I'm New Here
I am thinking of putting my heated pitot on my right wing of my RV-7 in the first bay outboard of the outboard inspection hole. It seems that most are located on the left wing. I am curious if there is some reason that I should not locate it on the right wing. My reasoning is to get more weight in the right wing along with my a/p servo. Thanks ahead for your thoughts.

Pitot tube, left or right

I think, that I would put it in the side that is the easiest to plumb.

With burning out of only one tank at a time, the pitot tube and its lightweight plumbing are probably not a significant factor. ;)

A pitot tube is placed where it will give the best airspeed reading. This is on the left wing. I beleave that if you check with Van's this is true. It may be that the right wing is just as good but the prop wash might help to give you the fastest indicated air speed of all Van's fleet.
