Heat damage to oil pressure cable

I have been doing an oil change and was alarmed to find the oil pressure cable was not as it should be. The outer plastic sheath had suffered some heat damage from the proximity to the exhaust system. It is obviously not the correct plastic to withstand high temperature.
I ran the cable as shown in Figure 2 Page 46-13 during construction , but I believe the cable would be better taken over the top of the motor.
As the inner wires were not damaged I wrapped the cable in a piece of fire sleave where it passed the exhaust pipe to protect it from further damage.
