GNS430W "COM needs service" message

The other day my GNS430W gave me a fright. I turned it on after start, and the COM was picking up a constant static noise. At first I thought someone else on the frequency had a stuck mike, but my Microair 760 COM heard nothing on the same frequency. Then I noted that the GNS430W MSG icon was lit - I found a "COM needs service" message posted. I said a few choice words, turned it off, waited 15 seconds, then turned it back on. This time it worked perfectly. And it worked fine the next flight too.

I'm wondering if this was a "one-off" event, and my 430 is perhaps OK. Or, is this an early warning sign and it will develop a real problem sometime soon? Does anyone else have experience with this message?

I get one from time to time that tells me my obstruction database is corrupt. turn off, turn back on, not an issue.

Start saving for that service exchange ;)
