GNC255 with GI275 AIRINC vs RS-232 question

Hello,
Ran into this and haven't found an answer yet. We have dual GI-275 with GNC-255A and GTN-650Txi. GI-275 calls for RS-232 for GNC-255. GNC-255 calls for using RS-232 for GPS source from GTN-650. Wondering if we could do AIRINC-429 from GNC-255 to GI-275 leaving the RS-232 open for the GPS source?

If anyone was curious... The GI-275 supplies GPS source to the GNC-255 through the RS-232 connection. So no need for separate connection to GPS unit.
