Gear weldment edge distance

I'm seeing an issue whereby, if I drill the weldment-to-spar hoes, the outboard-most lower hole will be centered approximately .25" from the edge of the material (definitely won't meet the 2D or even 1.5D edge distance).

Did anyone else run into this problem on the RV-6A?

The F-604 & spar holes were match-drilled at the factory, so no chance to move them...

Chris,

Maybe I got lucky. I did not have any edge distance issues on the gear weldments. Any possibility of adding material to that edge of the weldment? I know it does get tight up against the outside skin.
