Has anyone that had issues with a card reader done a self repair?

My reader “works” if I apply slight pressure on the card which inserts it further in. When I let off it immediately fails with I/O error

I’m debating on the exchange route ($1000) or attempting to fix myself on a display that is most likely out of warranty

What is the $1000 exchange route?

Is it all SD cards? You could try adding a piece of scotch tape to the top (or bottom, just not on the contacts) and see if the additional thickness holds the card in better...just a thought.

tried 3 more cards tonight with the same results. Most likely going to have to exchange it but I'm going to limp along for now. The display works perfectly fine otherwise. See attached picture.
