gasket dressing?

In hopes of stopping an oil leak, I've removed both the prop governor and governor adaptor from my O-360.
I've obtained the appropriate replacement gaskets and am curious what, if anything, should be applied to them before installation.
My mechanic told me the other day to just put them in dry, but he's also told me to coat such gaskets in the past.
My inclination would be to put dc4 on the engine side of the adaptor gasket (the old one was a bear to remove) and something like hylomar on the other side.
I don't have a clue what to use on the rubber governor gasket.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Put them on dry. Uncured "sealants" such as DC-4 can actually lead to gasket failure where there is sufficient pressure to "push out" the coated gasket.

I learned something new just now.

That's just one more reason to keep D.R. happy and employed. Sending more cash tomorrow!.
