Garmin G3X Data Collection

Does anyone know if the Garmin G3X can download information from the EIS to an SD card for engine troubleshooting... and how EIS analysis might be done? I have not been able to find anything on this in the Garmin G3X docs...

Any guidance is appreciated.

Thanx.

Victor:)

Oh yes it definitely can...

Here is an example:

You can either use some software like this free Savy Analysis tool or open it up in a spreadsheet and do your own analysis.

Works like a charm.

All you need to do is have the SD card in the MFD and turn on the logging function. After the flight, pop out the SD card and use some tool to open up the CSV log file that was created on the card.

page 11-26 in the install manual
page 9, 253, 254, 287, 361 & 369 in the operator manual

You can also do much more than EMS info...there is a ton of data that gets logged!

Here is an example of what you can do with the flight log info:

This program from Garmin will let you convert the files to be usable with Google Earth.

Here is another handy tool for converting files:

Yes—from the G3X install manual:
The Data Logging Configuration page enables the storage of flight data as .csv files to the "data_log"folder on an SD card. If data logging is enabled, the files are automatically written to the SD card after it isinserted into the card slot. These files can be opened in Excel, or imported into Google Earth for viewing using the Garmin Flight Log Conversion tool. The tool and instructions needed to import the files into Google Earth are available from the G3X Product Page found on the Garmin website www.garmin.com.

Also check out this site for web based analytics on the data: https://www.savvyanalysis.com/home
