Garmin 430W Alternative?

Hello All,

I am just trying to get some info as I am looking to start building a project soon. I am not interested in spending a pile of cash if I can get by with something else. For experimental what are some other Nav/Comm/GPS out there with similar features but without the price tag of the 430w or the GTN650? Thanks much for your help...

Nope. You can patch things together for NAV/COM/GPS but the beauty of the 430W is it's approach capability. No one else does it for less.

Need some competition here..

Sounds like something for GRT, Dynon, MGL or AFS to come up with, only better perf, and lower price as usual.

There are options.

Hi JC.... a lot depends on most of your missions. Do you intend to fly a lot of IFR or only occasionaly? Many of the older Garmins are enroute certified, but not approach certified and with more and more new GPS approaches and fewer ILS systems, the 430 seems to be the best player out there.
