G3X GSU25 Installation

Hi All,

I'm beginning the process of installing the G3X in my RV-7 tip-up. The installation manual has RV-7 specific guidance on installing the GMU22 but was wondering where others out there have been putting the GSU25 ADHARS box? I was going to mount it right on the sub-panel behind instrument panel. Seems like it meets the requirements outlined in the manual for location to CG etc.

Matt,
I have a slider but probably not much different for this cause.
I mounted my GSU on the sub-panel to the left then the GED then the GAD on the right. These are all accessible with the two GDU's removed. When I say right I don't mean co-pilot side. All three are very close together allowing for connectors. It is mounted horizontal with tubes facing aft.

I made my mounting plate for the GSU73, then the GSU25 etc came out. The mounting plate is a little overkill for the GSU25, but it also braces the panel. I plan on trimming/ lightening it up after I get all of the components added.

I made a third (center) rib in my tip up structure. Seems like the extra real estate will come in handy for all the extra boxes.

Matt, that's where I mounted mine, I'm attaching a photo. One thing the guys at Garmin told me (Steve) was to make sure it was a pretty solid location because the GMU25's are pretty sensitive to vibration. I think the guideline he gave me was that if the panel gives at all when you push on it, probably not a good location. So I mounted mine fairly close to a rib which added quite a bit of support. Anyway, it worked out well.

Hey, thanks all for the helpful comments and pictures! Pat, as you mentioned, I was a bit worried about the give of the sub-panel but I think I'll go ahead and mount it in that location and make sure it's near a rib or maybe even add a stiffener on the back side.

Under right seat

Hi. I'm currently installing the wiring for the G3X. I plan to put the GSU25 under the right seat. Won't have to run pitot/static forward of wings.
