Fun with the snorkel.

I'm attempting to tackle the snorkel and AFP throttle body.

I got it to fit, more or less, described here:
http://stjohn.openbar.com/airplane/?p=830

So now I'm faced with the unenviable task of smoothing out the airflow around the actual interface to the throttle body, inside where the opening ring meets the walls of the existing snorkel. Is it OK to put micro slurry inside the snorkel to shape the air flow and smooth out bumps, or do I risk large chunks of resin-based things being sucked into the engine and ruining my day?

Thanks in advance.

You can always shape it the way you want with foam, then a layer of glass over the foam.

Lighter, and more secure than micro, and easier to work with.

Or, use micro, and then a layer of glass to keep it all secure.

Thanks, Mike.

I'll probably fill any small concavities with micro, glass them, then use foam for the actual shape I want.

What's the smallest acceptable radius for air to bend around, or is that a case by case thing?
