Fuel Spider on EXP Engines

In the last page or two of the plans there is an admonishment that if your fuel spider has a fluid fitting in the gage port that it should be removed and replaced with an NPT plug. Sure enough, mine has the fluid fitting but to remove it it isn't a simple matter of just unscrewing. Because it is a 45 degree angle fluid fitting, and how close it is to the top of the engine, you can't unscrew it without it hitting the top of the engine. The only solution I can see is to remove the spider first, which probably means disconnecting the fuel line to each cylinder too since I don't know how much play there is without damaging them. I'm assuming I'm not the only one with this fluid fitting in the spider. How have others dealt with this?

Metal cap

I put a proper metal AN cap on mine.

I think the problem was people were leaving the plastic cap on and not replacing the plastic shipping cap with a AN cap. JMHO
