Fuel line routing Q.

Hey All,

I am perousing the websites and came across Phil's and was somewhat puzzled as to why this line couln't be run a bit farther aft:

...so that this 90 degree bend could be omitted:

I see that the 704 is in the way of a straight shot, but a shallow offset seems permissible.
