Fuel Leak around Tank Rivet

RSANDOR

I'm New Here
Does anyone know of a good way to stop fuel leaking around a rivet on top of the wing tank, without removing the tank and sealing the rivet from the inside? Just started after about 350 flight hours, very small leak.
Thanks,
Bob

Bob,

Welcome to the VAF forum.

Do a search on "Tank Leak Fix" and see what comes up. There are a lot of good solutions.

leak

I had 2 of these on my Archer (lurker revealed!). These are cherry rivets.
This works: Sand the area free of paint. Clean thoroughly. Coat rivet with JB Weld and work it into any gap that's evident. I would make sure the fuel level is below the rivet level of course and maybe allow the tank to vent freely by removing the fuel cap so no fumes are passing out the leak. Allow to set. Paint.

This worked perfectly for my leak. Unfortunately the plane was painted and they messed up my work! Now gotta do it all over.
