flop tube fitting spacer

flop tube fitting

I bought a partially-completed RV-7 wing kit. The tanks are nearly done. Just have to install the fuel pickup. I'm going with a flop tube in one tank. Since the angle has already been riveted and sealed, I was just going to drill the 9/16 hole with everything in place rather than drilling the angle out and starting over. I'll have to clean the considerable amount of proseal to make room for the contact area of the fitting. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A flop tube needs a fitting in the very front of the tank, not in the inspection cover like a standard pickup. It showed it on the plans for my 8, I would guess it shows the same on a 7 plan set. It is just a 90 degree bulkhead fitting, and you are correct in the fact you need to clean lots of proseal--I had to also.

Don't forget to safety wire!!
