Flight Review Requirement for Sport Pilot

I searched the archives and didn't find anything and thought I'd ask the collective before assuming I know the answer. If I hold a PSEL license but not a current third-class medical, and I want to fly LSA, am I required to undergo a proficiency check before flying? Also, am I required to conduct a biennial flight review with an instructor?
