I am getting close to fitting the wings. As a prep I have been working on fitting the F-7114 gussets. The left one seems to fit pretty well, but the right one does not. By fit I mean smooth insertion of the wing bolts without binding.
I asked Vans and they said it was okay to open the bolt holes on the gusset slightly to ensure a good fit, which I have done on the right gusset. To make sure this does not become an issue when I mount the wings I plan on installing the gussets AFTER I install the wings and with the wings on the plane.
The plans do not really address when to install the gussets. A search of web sites did not seem to find an consensus as to when this is done. What is the collective wisdom, install the gussets before or after the wings?
