F-604F Question

Hey Guys,

I have a question regarding the installation of part F-604F into bulkhead F-604. I inherited this project from somebody else, and when taking this part out for painting, discovered a shim behind between it and the bulkhead. As close as I am able to tell from the plans, there is not suppose to be a shim here. The shim is not drilled for any rivets at this time, it was just taped in place by the previous owner. What are your suggestions? Leave the shim out, or drill and rivet it in place?

Thanks for your help,
Chris

The shim in not in the plans, but is not an issue. The longeron is .125 and the outer plate on the 604 is .063 so there will have to be a gap of ~.063. There does not have have to be a shim, but if you put the outside of 604 flush with the outside of the longeron, then you will end up with a gap under the channel.
