Engine Shutdown Procedure

Not too far off from flight testing. Our RV-14a has the IO-390 EXP119 with the Airflow Performance FM200 Fuel Injection System. Page 40 of the FM200 Installation Manual covers engine shutdown procedures and states "Opening the throttle with the mixture control in the idle cut-off position will aid in a cleaner shut off."

I'm interpreting that to mean when it's time to shutdown
Mixture.......Idle Cutoff (followed immediately by)
Throttle.......Full Open

I've never seen this recommendation in the POH for any of the piston singles I've flown (Lycoming or Continental engines) and I'm curious what other's experiences are with this procedure.

Lycoming recommends setting the throttle at 1000 RPM before moving the mixture to ICO, to achieve clean shutdown.
