Engine mount hitting engine on RV-9A

I am building an RV9A, when I mounted the 0-320 A1A to ther motor mount the top bushings fit fine, but on the bottom of the engine the two back intake tubes are hitting the conical mount and the bushings won't come close to fitting tightly. Has anyone run into this problem before and if so what did you have to do the correct this problem.

Your engine has an "aft" mounted carburetor... somewhat like what is called a "straight riser" and it will probably necessitate the replacement of the sump and intake tubes in order to clear the motor mount.

Lycoming and the airframe manufacturers have made a variety of sump and intake tube combinations over the years and the one you have was probably designed for installation in a twin or some tightly cowled streamlined airframe. This forced them to move the carburetor aft and to redesign the intake tubes.

All of the engine sumps (oil pans) can be interchanged. The ones that are "normal" and fit well are those off of engines like the -E2D, -E3D, -D1A, etc.
