Emergency brake valve position?

Space Cadet

Well Known Member
Can't find the manual quickly. What's the right position for vans emergency brake valve arm when the valve is shut (brake on)? Is it straight out or angled (up against the clamping arm)?

Thanks,
Dwight

I don't recall Van's having a schematic or plan for the parking brake valve in th RV-10. We installed one in ours and I think the arm is 45 degrees fore and aft for open and closed. The lever is on the bottom and when it is toward the passenger side at 45 degrees it is open. Move it 90 degrees to the pilot side and it is closed. At least that is how I remember it.

I concur!

The valve shown in the photos in the above post is no longer available. The model that replaced that valve is similiar, but the housing is made in two pieces. It installs the same way.

Thanks

Thanks guys. That closed position is actually further than I was thinking it was. Pictures a big help. Now I can get on with putting the panel in this week!
