I'm working on page 6-10 of the RV-7 manual and DWG 4, left elevator. Near the bottom of page 6-10 I'm instructed to machine countersink either the forward face of the E-705 root rib or the aft face of the E-606PP trim spar. The drawing calls for #3 flush rivets, but I noticed that I've already drilled the two holes to #30 (like just about every other rib-to-spar rivet hole in the project so far).
Since the instructions say either side can be countersunk, I'm assuming that flush rivets are not really required, and they're only flush because they'd be the only two #3 universal rivets in the empennage. Can I just use #4 universal head rivets here, or should I use NAS1097AD4 reduced head rivets, or should I get new parts? Edge distance on both parts is about 7/32".
