Electric trim retrofit

Any tips from someone who has installed a trim servo in a completed elevator?

I have the electric trim kit from Van's, and it looks like I'm going to have to drill some rivets to separate the bottom elevator skin enough to slip the doubler in place. Not too big a deal, but I thought I'd see what wisdom I can get from the group before I start tearing into things.

I am "freshening up" an old -4, and while it is in pieces, I have decided to retrofit it with an electric trim servo in the elevator. Personally, I prefer manual trim, but I'm not happy with the configuration of the old manual trim system (not constructed per the plans, and worse off for it). It appears that getting the manual trim up to snuff would require more extensive surgery in the tail than just fitting the trim servo.
