Drilling pitot tube

Step 4 on 47-02 has you deepening the pilot dimple in the pitot tube using a #29 drill (assuming you actually have one), but only until you see a small bump appear on the inside of the tube wall. I was just wondering how many of you ever saw this promised bump actually show up before you carefully drilled right through the wall? And if you did see it, what combination of lighting, microscopy and other visual alchemy did you use to eyeball it? Good thing that Vans thoughtfully provide a hole repair procedure in step 6. :(

I did it incrementally, checking for capture in the block and stopped when the screw seemed to catch the indentation.

The first time I drilled as described and made a small bump, and an even smaller hole. I discovered it when testing the static system. I ordered a new one and didn't bother drilling. A hundred hours later and the pitot tube is still solidly in place.
