The plans specify max 3 per side use as required AN960-416 washers between the elevator horn and hinge bearing. I installed my elevators, and I'm getting reading to drill the elevator horns. My right elevator horn is significantly shorter than the left. I'm probably going to need five or six washers on the right side, and need to use a longer bolt.
I called Vans about this. They said that the elevator horns do vary from one part to another, which is why they say use washers as required. However, they also said that its unusual to have that much difference, but it won't hurt anything.
Has anyone else had such drastic difference between the two horn lengths?
