Different Cowls

I'm a new builder (EM-RV7.) I have noticed on several pictures of 7s that some of the cowls have a round "mouth" air intake under the prop...others do not. Apparently there are two cowls available. Is there an advantage of one over the other?

Horizontal induction sumps have the smooth/round front. Vertical induction has the scoop.

Hi Fox,
You may have seen a Sam James cowl. The air inlets are round with brushed aluminum rings. I went this route and like the looks compared to the stock Van's cowl. Just my opinion, though!
