Detachable Step RV-7 or other

I have just started on the QB Fuselage of my RV-7A.
Has anybody made a conversion of the Steps so that they are easily detachable?
I plan to install a step on either side but believe it makes sense to be able to remove one or both for extended flights etc.

Why?

Willem, the little bit of drag is undetectable.

Detachable step

Thanks for the link Rich, seems like the normal fixed step is the way to go. On the other hand again - if one step causes 1/2 a percent loss of speed then 2 steps causes 1% loss, add this with the effect of my 7A nose wheel vs taildragger (1% according to Van's Performance figures) and I am then sitting with 2% that is 4 mph! Okay blah, blah, blah - but it adds up.
